Academic Year and National Holidays

The Epirus Institute of Technology (T.E.I. of Epirus) has a 10 month academic year period. Each academic year is divided into two semesters. Each semester has a duration of 13 weeks and there is an additional four week period for each semester for carrying out the examination period. Also, there is a supplementary examination period of two weeks in the first two weeks of September for students required to re-sit exams from previous modules.

The Epirus Institute of Technology (T.E.I. of Epirus) is a public entity and as such is under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and is required to adhere to the National Holidays that are instituted by the Greek State and these apply to all students (Greek, Erasmus and International students) - please see below these National Holiday days:

17th November Student’s Uprising Celebrating student uprising in November 1973 against the Military Regime (junta) that was in power at the time and contributed in the overthrow of the Military Regime (junta) in 1974 - please click here for more details .

30th January Religious School Day

movable Orthodox Ash Monday (Clean Monday) Orthodox Ash Monday (or Clean Monday as is commonly known in Greece) begins the season of Great Lent for Greek Orthodox Churches. The date is different each year and depends on the date of the Greek Orthodox Easter - please click here to see the date this falls the year you are interested.
25th March National holiday Independence Day
Movable - classes stop a week before Easter Sunday and commence a week after Easter Sunday Easter holidays

Greek Orthodox Easter does not coincide with Catholic Easter (this happens only once every 4 years) - please click here to see the date this falls the year you are interested.

There are no official breaks for other religions and therefore if you consider you would require a break for religious reasons this needs to discussed and agreed at individual basis prior arrival with the Departmental Erasmus Coordinator
